This Texas Yurt Is Made for Stargazing
Stay in this stargazing yurt in Texas. It's secluded, affordable, and it features a skylight for viewing millions of stars.
It's crazy to me to think about how many stars we would see each night if it weren't for light pollution. If you want to marvel at the night sky in its unobscured glory, I found a yurt in the Big Bend area that would be perfect for your next getaway! It's secluded and affordable, and it has a domed skylight so you can watch the constellations dance while you drift off to sleep. This stargazing yurt in Texas has it all.
Big Bend National Park is one of the best places to go stargazing in Texas because it's so far removed from major cities and boasts some of the darkest skies on Earth. You'll need a basecamp for your adventures, and this charming yurt checks all the boxes. It's just five minutes from Alpine, less than 30 minutes from Fort Davis (home of the famous McDonald Observatory), and about 90 minutes from Big Bend.
The yurt sleeps two, is heated and cooled, and features Wi-Fi, a Smart TV, a fully-stocked kitchen, and a clawfoot tub with a privacy curtain. It also has a custom-made bed and is decorated in a style that's part bohemian, part Southwestern, and 100% charming. Spacious enough to not feel claustrophobic yet small enough to be cozy, the yurt is your sanctuary after a full day of exploring. The hosts even throw in an indoor s'mores kit, so you can embrace the camping vibes without having to "rough it."
You'll find a table and chairs on the patio, perfect for relaxing and taking in the vast desert landscape. Perhaps you'll make a charcuterie board to enjoy with a glass of your favorite wine or sip your morning coffee while watching the sun rise behind the towering mountain peaks. Coming out here to stargaze at night is also a next-level experience. While you can see some stars through the skylight inside the yurt, nothing compares to viewing them with the naked eye.
Visit the yurt's listing on Airbnb for more information, including current nightly rates and availability, or to book your stay. And if you happen to be there during International Dark Sky Week, which is happening from April 13 to April 20, 2026, be sure to look for events nearby that celebrate the magic of stargazing.
