Happiness Is A Summer Day Trip To This Little-Known Lake In Idaho
I love a summer day at the lake. However, some of my favorite lakes can become quite crowded, putting a damper on my day of fun. That’s why a day trip to Crystal Lake is lovely. Located near St. Marie’s in northern Idaho, this isn’t a large lake but it’s beautiful and lesser-known, making it perfect for a summer day of peace and quiet. However, to reach the lake, you’ll need to put on your hiking shoes. You’ll have a 2.8-mile out-and-back trail to conquer before you reach the lake.
Located in the Crystal Lake Wilderness Study Area in northern Idaho is Crystal Lake. A visit to this little-known lake in Idaho will put a smile on your face and fill your soul with happiness.
To reach the lake, you’ll have to conquer a 2.8-mile out-and-back trail. This hike is quite challenging with some steep inclines and loose rocks.
The trailhead is located off Forest Road 613. Keep in mind that to reach the trailhead, you will want a high-clearance, 4-wheel-drive vehicle.
As you hike, you’ll want to watch out for muddy areas and water on the trail. We also recommend downloading a trail map as there are portions of this route that can be difficult to follow.
While a bit challenging, there is nothing like the beauty you will find on your journey. The mountain and forest views are exquisite …
… and Crystal Lake is absolutely stunning. This landscape will make you feel like you’ve just stepped into a painting.
The water is a beautiful color, almost like something you’d see at a tropical destination.
If you aren’t afraid of the cold, you may want to jump in. Just don’t expect warm water.
And if you desire to camp, head to the south end of the lake where you can find a small peninsula, perfect for spending the night next to the water.
Just make sure no matter how long you stay, you watch out for wildlife and are prepared for an animal encounter. Not only does this little-known lake in Idaho bring happiness to hikers, but also to animals of all sizes.
