The Churro Dog at Arizona’s Chase Field Is a Feat of the Imagination
The ice-cream-topped, sugar-coated “Churro Dog” at Arizona’s Chase Field is summertime's sweetest treat.
It’s time for a treat at Chase Field. The Arizona Diamondbacks became known for their famous “18-inch bacon-and-cheese-stuffed corn dog” last year. But this year, it’s time to shift to something sweeter. Throughout the 2025 season, the “Churro Dog” will take over stomachs (and Instagram feeds).
This beautiful and delicious creation includes a collection of separate (yet equally yummy) desserts combined into one epic, shareable sundae. Plus, calories don’t count when you’re at the ballgame. But for those interested, this creation comes in at a whopping 1,117 calories.

The Churro Dog is the brainchild of team chef Michael Snoke. He used feedback from a focus group of passionate eaters and tested this “Churro Dog” idea. To no one’s surprise, the creation was an immediate success.
The Churro Dog begins with the base of a Long John chocolate-glazed donut. This is filled with a warm cinnamon churro. Top it off with frozen yogurt, caramel, and chocolate sauce, and you have the ultimate combination for an epic sugar rush.
Using fro-yo instead of ice cream was intentional, since it’s traditionally associated with being “less bad for you” than real ice cream. And it's said that Chef Snoke himself just thought the combination tasted better. But regardless of the type of frozen dairy used in this dessert, this concession is already a hit. The item will be available at two stands on the main concourse at Chase Field for $8.50.

This isn’t the first time Chase Field has offered a variation on the Churro Dog. The original version, which was released in 2015, was a "home run." In fact, MLB.com named it the top donut-based ballpark food that season. In 2017, the treat made a comeback with the Churro Dog 2.0, featuring a spin on the classic, with a variation on the churro rolled in Oreo cookie crumbs and smothered in strawberry topping.
The Churro Dog became such a crowd favorite that MLB.com wrote a story about “How to make a ballpark churro dog at home,” for which the Diamondbacks shared their coveted recipe. During the COVID-impacted 2020 season, this recipe was a solid stand-in to feel like you were being “taken out to the ballgame” while still at home, on your couch.
The Churro Dog of 2025 brings back the basics with the original mechanics of 2015’s take on the treat. On-site vendors are eager to see how the 2025 Churro Dog performs, since savory food items are traditionally more successful than sweet ones.

But no matter how you play it, the heat of the Arizona desert can be a great excuse to indulge in this delicious dessert on a summer day at a ballgame. The smell of the freshly cut grass, the clear blue sky and sunshine, and the sweet relief of a Chase Field Churro dog are a winning combination for a summertime outing.
The Churro Dog can be a delicious deal for those seeking "just desserts." But don't miss the other delightful and underrated dining destinations of Arizona. This rooftop restaurant in Phoenix is above the clouds, boasting 360-degree views of the Valley of the Sun with tasty regional cuisine.
