Black Diamond Cemetery Is One Of Washington’s Spookiest Cemeteries

A cemetery is not an inherently creepy place. In fact, some of them can be quite peaceful. But if you've ever walked around Washington's Black Diamond Cemetery, you may have gotten the feeling that something is a little off. And you wouldn't be the only one. This cemetery has quite a haunted history.

Black Diamond is a small city in King County that's located near Enumclaw.

While the Black Diamond Cemetery is far from its only attraction, it's certainly the most notorious spot.

The history of the site dates all the way back to 1884, and the cemetery now has over 1200 gravestones.

It's even listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Many of the earliest gravesites belong to immigrants who came to the area as miners.

One grave contains the remains of eight miners who were killed in the Lawson Mine explosion in November of 1910.

Reports of paranormal activity here range from strange smells to eerie sights and sounds.

Some visitors have reported seeing a white phantom horse and swinging lanterns, while others claim they’ve heard whistling from the miners’ ghosts.

The most common occurrence here is seeing a floating mist, which usually occurs after dark.
