How would you like to go directly from your snowsuit into your swimsuit? Well, with this hot spring day trip in Wyoming, you can do just that. This snow trail will lead you to a natural hot spring soak that will leave you relaxed, rested and rejuvenated.
Granite Hot Springs is one of those must-do day trips in Wyoming that can be done year round. However, going in the winter puts a little different spin on things.
Granite Hot Springs is located along the side of the Gros Ventre Mountains in Bridger-Teton National Forest. To get there from Pinedale, take US HWY 191N to Granite Creek Road. The hot spring is 10 miles up this road.
In the winter, this is where the adventure begins. The unpaved road is closed to cars so the hot spring is only accessible via snowmobile, cross country skiing, dog sled and showshoeing.
You'll start out at Granite Springs Trailhead. The scenic trail is 10 miles long and runs along Granite Creek with beautiful views of the mountains.
Most of the way, you'll have the trail all to yourselves except for a few others who may be heading to soak in the nice warm rejuvenating spring too.
Don't be surprised if you run into a lot of snow along the way. The area receives an average of 400 inches a year. Trust me, the destination is well worth the journey.

There's something so inviting about the warm steam rising up from the pool in contrast to the cold surroundings.
There's no way to describe the feeling of sitting back in the warm hot spring, where the temperature averages around 112 degrees in the winter, surrounded by snow covered trees and mountains.
Granite Hot Springs offers the best of both worlds; a warm place to relax and rejuvenate while enjoying the winter wonderland surrounding you.
