1. Los Tres Hermanos - Elkhorn
There are three brothers who each have their own restaurant, and this one north of Lake Geneva uses all kinds of fresh ingredients to make some of the best Mexican food you've ever had.

2. Hernandez Restaurant - Delavan
This area has a lot of residents with Mexican roots and the restaurants showcase the flavors of the locals. This place is always on point and delicious.

3. Ohio Tavern - Madison
By far the most non-traditional spot on the list. These aren't the tacos you're used to, but they are the tacos you need. New and usual flavors rotate through here regularly, but they're all amazing.

4. El Tequila - Multiple Locations
That these folks have grown to have four northeastern Wisconsin locations should be enough to convince you that the food their serving is legit. Bright and fun with great service, El Tequila is a great family spot with mouth-watering food. The New London location is at 208 N Water St., New London, WI 54961. The Antigo location is at 712 Superior St., Antigo, WI 54409. The Manitowoc location is at 4411 Calumet Ave., Manitowoc, WI 54220. The Shawano location is at 1240 E Green Bay St., Shawano, WI 54166.
5. La Tapatia - Racine
Multiple readers have suggested any taco list that doesn't include this spot is lacking. Locals with Mexican roots flock to this place for a taste of home. Located at 1951 Mead St., Racine, WI 53403.
6. La Guanajuato - Delavan
You'll notice quite a few entries on this list are actually little eateries tucked into Mexican grocery stores. They're the places offering quick and easy meals to the locals who know the flavors and expect perfection - otherwise they'd just eat at home.

7. Los Hernandez Truck - Lodi
When these folks couldn't find the flavors they wanted anywhere in town, they started making it themselves. You'll smell the low and slow cooked meat before the truck even comes into view. You can usually find these folks at the corner of Fair Street and Millston Ave., Lodi, WI 53555.
8. Enrique's Market - Madison
Madison has a great Mexican food scene, and there are plenty of slicker looking spots, but they can't compete with the flavor and value of Enrique's. Located at 1417 Northport Dr., Madison, WI 53704.
9. Taco Burrito Mexico - Green Bay
Another spot that readers insisted we try, this spot makes you feel like you've been invited into the owners' home. The flavors and recipes have clearly passed from generation to generation and we get lucky enough to share them. There are two Green Bay area locations- 108 N Oakland Ave., Green Bay, WI 54303 and 238 S Webster Ave,, Green Bay, WI 54301.
10. Casa Mexicana - Rice Lake
Cozy and comfortable, you feel like their family has invited you over for a personal meal. The food is mouth-watering and the atmosphere is so welcoming. Located at 421 S Main St., Rice Lake, WI 54868.
11. Taqueria La Mexicana - Walworth
The view back to the kitchen is wide open, lending an even more welcoming feel to this spot that invites folks who are here to grocery shop to stop for a quick and delicious meal. You know the flavors are on point because otherwise folks would just go home and make their own. 132 Beloit St., Walworth, WI 53184.
