We’ve got some pretty amazing sites and attractions here in Wisconsin – and Land of Oz Museum is one of them. Yes, you read that right. There's a museum in the Badger State that’s stuffed to the brim with memorabilia and artifacts from The Wizard of Oz! And just like the iconic movie, this museum will delight fans of all ages. Take a look:
Had Dorothy kept searching for a land somewhere over the rainbow, it’s likely she would’ve wound up in Wausaukee, which is where the Land of Oz Museum is located.
The magical museum is open seasonally from April through the first weekend in October. Though not necessary, appointments are appreciated.
It may look small from the outside, but the museum houses an enormous collection of Wizard of Oz themed memorabilia.
In fact, it’s one of the biggest collections owned by one person – and that person is Garry Parrish, who’s more than happy to share his collection (and stories about it) with visitors.
Seemingly never-ending, the massive collection occupies two floors and 10 different rooms!
But it's not just the movie that's represented at the Land of Oz Museum.
Sure to impress even die-hard fans, the collection is incredibly comprehensive and includes everything from early Oz books to items from stage productions of Wicked.
In addition to the array of memorabilia that fills the museum, there are a few genuine movie artifacts.
Even though it's packed to the brim, the museum is easy to navigate since the rooms are arranged by themes, such as holidays, toys, dolls and figurines, tinware, and more.
With so many items on display, you'll want to give yourself a few hours to explore Land of Oz Museum, so make sure to plan your visit accordingly. And don't forget a camera.
Land of Oz Museum is open seasonally, April through October. Remember, appointments are appreciated. For more information, call (715) 927-0767. You can also visit the Land of Oz Museum Facebook page.
