Whether you're trying to rekindle romance, or just want to stay in a place different than the Super 8, bed and breakfasts are a great choice. Lucky for you, there are plenty of bed and breakfasts to choose from. But so as to not make this article 1,000 pages long, we narrowed it down to a few you need to check out (or check into) ASAP. Here are just a few of the best bed and breakfasts in Wisconsin.
1. Journey Inn, an eco-retreat (Maiden Rock)
Editor's Note: As of fall 2022, Journey Inn will no longer host guests and is for sale. It may reopen as a bed and breakfast again under new ownership.
We had never heard of an eco-friendly resort before we researched Journey Inn, but this sounds like just the peaceful setting you are looking for. In addition to this beautiful setting, you can get a number of services such as massage, life coaching, and a Japanese soaking tub. You'll enjoy getting away from it all, but you are also just an hour from St. Paul, Minnesota, and a few miles from Lake Pepin. Visit the Journey Inn's official website for more information.
2. Old Rittenhouse Inn (Bayfield)
When we think of traditional bed and breakfasts, this is what we think of. But you'll get more than just standard fare there: there's a gourmet restaurant right here, too. There are three different buildings to choose from, and you'll get a fireplace as well as a whirlpool. Awesome! And check out those views of Lake Superior! Visit the official website for Old Rittenhouse Inn to learn more about this best b&b in Wisconsin.
3. Honeybee Inn Bed and Breakfast (Horicon)
Cozy, beautifully-appointed rooms and great breakfasts make this a great bed and breakfast to check out. Body jet showers and deluxe whirlpools will make your stay even better. And if this isn't serene enough for you, check out the nearby Horicon Marsh Wildlife Area. Visit the Honeybee Inn Bed and Breakfast website for more information.
4. Spider Lake Lodge (Hayward)
When you visit the Wisconsin Northwoods (which you should totally do, by the way), this is the perfect place to stay. We've always wanted to stay in a log cabin, so here's your chance to do it! The log lodge is from 1923, so tons of history here. Get yourself a big country breakfast before heading out on the ski trails or golf course! Check out Spider Lake Lodge's official website for more information. Find out why this is one of the best bed and breakfasts in Wisconsin.
5. Inn at Cedar Crossing (Sturgeon Bay)
This bed and breakfast is unique because it is in Sturgeon Bay's downtown district. That said, you don't lose any of the intimacy typically found with B&Bs. The rooms are all different but are all very romantic. Enjoy a room with a large canopy bed or whirlpool tub. And the food's scrumptious. What's more, is that you are right downtown, so you can explore the shops or head over to the water and enjoy the sunset with that special someone. Check out the official website for the Inn at Cedar Crossing for more information. It's one of the most romantic bed and breakfasts in Wisconsin.
