There are hundreds of caves hidden under West Virginia's fields and forests, including dozens in the beautiful Greenbrier Valley. And while many are off limits to the general public, there is one cave in Lewisburg, Lost World Caverns, with a wild cave tour that belongs on every West Virginia adventurer's bucket list!
If you're familiar with West Virginia's Greenbrier Valley, you've probably heard of Lost World Caverns.
It's one of Lewisburg's top attractions, and they offer an excellent, self-guided tour of the main cave that includes a wide variety of stunning formations.
But a self-guided tour through the main cave isn't the only tour Lost World Caverns offers. Did you know about their guided wild cave tour?
It's a bucket-list worthy adventure that will take you off the beaten path - way off.
Be prepared to squeeze through tight, muddy passages...
...and pass pools teeming with cave life on an experience you'll never forget!
The four-hour tour (six hours, if you include training and lunch) covers more than a mile of chambers and passageways that will leave you tired and maybe a little stiff and definitely covered in mud - but also proud, happy, and inspired.
Lost World Cavern's Wild Cave Tours cost $79 per person. Lunch is included and showers are available for after the tour. You'll need to wear two layers on top, long jeans, closed-toed shoes, and bring a complete change of clothes and a towel for after your post-tour shower. A bag for your muddy things is also helpful. Helmets, lights, kneepads, and gloves are provided.
To learn more or reserve your spot on a Wild Cave Tour, visit Lost World Caverns' website. You can also find them on Facebook. Did you know it was while exploring off the beaten path in Lost World Caverns (through some of the same area that the Wild Cave Tour covers) that a staff member discovered an ancient bear skeleton?
