Who’s ready for some good, old-fashioned wintertime fun? Spend a cold winter’s afternoon sledding, playing games, and making a snowman (be as creative as you want) at the annual Toboggan Festival in West Virginia. The festival also features a wood-burning stove and hot drinks to warm you up and delicious goodies to keep you energized.
Bundle up for an afternoon of winter fun at the Toboggan Festival, set for February 1, 2020, at Chestnut Ridge Park and Campground in Bruceton Mills.
The festival will run from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. or later, if there are still games in progress. Bring your sense of humor and get ready for fun at this free festival that features…
Sled riding. Bring your sled with you, or rent a tube or a foam sled for $10. (However, be aware that sleds are available in limited quantities.)
Zip and zoom down the hill on your sled the whole afternoon, or join in some of the games that are planned, such as Toboggan Limbo, Race to the Base, and Reindeer Rodeo.
Channel your inner artist by joining in on the snowman-making contest. All contests and games are free and simply for the fun of it, so don’t take them or yourself too seriously.
Stomach starting to churn? Or maybe you just need something hot to drink? Stop by the warming hut, or purchase coffee, cider, and hot cocoa for $2 each. Pair your drink with hot dogs or nachos.
If the weather doesn’t cooperate, the Toboggan Festival may change dates. Alternate dates include February 8, 9, 22, and 23. A decision will be made by January 29, 2020 if the event occurs on February 1, 2020.
