Summersville Lake is located in the city of Summersville, West Virginia.
The entire lake is made up of 28,000 acres of water. There are almost 60 miles of gorgeous shoreline to explore.
The lake is actually a reservoir created by the Summersville Dam.
At its deepest, the bottom of the lake is 327 feet deep. The water is clear and brilliant, and perfect for scuba diving.
This lake has earned its nickname, “Little Bahamas of the East” for being the clearest freshwater lake east of the Mississippi.
In fact, locals have even sunk a boat to the bottom of the lake to create a fish habitat that’s fun to observe while scuba diving. Visibility is 20-45 feet, perfect for a good dive.

The rocks offer the perfect spot to climb, with routes ranging from intermediate to expert. And most of the routes are just feet from the shoreline, so you can swim in between climbs.
