When most visitors head to Harpers Ferry, West Virginia, their sights are set on immersing themselves in the history of this historic town wedged between the Potomac and Shenandoah Rivers. This Harpers Ferry train museum is located over on Bakerton Road, and if you're not careful, you may miss the entrance, so keep a keen eye out for the railroad tracks and the red railroad station.
For a mere two dollars, you'll be able to hop aboard the Joy Line Railroad for a fun little Harpers Ferry train ride through this miniature valley.
The collection contains several different cars, including a traditional engine where the conductor (who is usually the owner) sits.
There's also a sleek, silver commercial-type model with open-air cars for the passengers.
No matter which train is running the day you choose to visit, you'll be happy you did!
And don't forget to let the kiddos try the hand-powered cars. They'll have a blast!
Inside the yellow building, you'll find a model train museum, complete with working trains from yesteryear. What could be more fun than showing the next generation some toys from your childhood?!
