Blackwater Falls State Park is a beloved West Virginia attraction, but not everyone knows how much fun it can be in the winter! Take a look at what might just be the best place to go sledding in the eastern US.
Blackwater Falls State Park has the longest sledding run East of the Mississippi.
The sledding hill is one quarter mile long.
Don't worry, there's a lift to help get you up the hill, so all you have to do is go down!
Sleds are available for rent at the park.
Each year the park hosts a cardboard and duct tape sled race.
This winter the race will take place on Saturday, February 25th. The theme will be "Superheroes and Villains."
You can also rent cross-country skis or snowshoes for other parts of the park.
The Sled Run & Cross Country Ski Center are open from mid-December through March 15th.

If you get cold, pay a visit to the warming hut. You can get hot drinks and freshly made soups and stews, and sit by the fire.
While you're here, of course you'll want to visit the waterfall. Sometimes it freezes in the winter!
