With proximity to not only the Pacific Ocean but also Puget Sound and various lakes, there is no shortage of beaches to roam in Washington. Plus, many of these can be considered remote beaches in Washington.
A favorite of many (and surely high on my bucket list!) is the clean, sandy beach located at Marlyn Nelson County Park in Sequim.
It was 1976 when this one-acre parcel was deeded to the Clallam County Parks Department.
But the park’s name dates back several decades before that.
Back in 1944, the one-acre area was designated the Marlyn Nelson County Park.
It is named after a nineteen-year-old Navy sailor who was killed on the USS California in Pearl Harbor. He was a local native of Sequim. At that time, only a plaque was placed, but in 1999, a photo of the young man was added.
There is much to do here, such as….
... taking a quiet walk along the beach’s 1,000 feet of shoreline. And feel free to bring your pooch along with you!
Comb the beach for unique shells or rocks at low tide and take a memento home with you!
You can also walk underneath the cliffs.
Or just take in the peace and breathtaking views of the Cascade Mountain Range and the San Juan Islands.
There are even picnic tables for a nice sit.
Take your canoe or kayak out on the water. There is a boat launch right here.
Watch out for unique wildlife.
You might even spot an eagle!
Feeling lazy or visiting during bad weather?
You don’t even have to get out of the car to take in the views!
Get here early and watch the sun come up and/or stay late and watch the sun go down.
No matter what you choose to do here or when you choose to visit, you'll be rewarded with peace and tranquility at one of the loveliest remote beaches in Washington.
