Do you have a favorite restaurant on Whidbey Island? If you're familiar with Coupeville, you may have already heard of Ciao Food & Wine. This charming Italian restaurant is as authentic as it gets thanks to Owner and Chef Mark Laska mentoring in Italy under Enzo Coccia, the founder of the slow food movement.
If you're heading to Whidbey anytime soon or you're lucky enough to call it home, we highly recommend dining at Ciao. But we have fantastic news if you're not planning an island getaway anytime soon -- thanks to their new themed boxes, you can have the deliciousness delivered right to your door.
Ciao Food & Wine has been a beloved local gem for years.
Mark Laska opened the eatery in Coupeville after deciding to raise his family on Whidbey Island.
Ciao is a popular gathering spot for locals and tourists alike, especially their seasonal patio.
Here, families and friends gather to catch up on life over a delicious meal.
Here, you'll find authentic Neapolitan pizza, which requires certification by the Italian Ministry of Agriculture.
Italians really take their pizza seriously, and it shows.
There are plenty of other tasty menu items worth trying, like salads, sandwiches, and freshly baked lasagna...
... and you can also get both dinner and groceries to-go.
The shop features the hard to find artisan products from family-owned Italian purveyors that Mark has used both in Italy and here while running the restaurant.
Just over a year ago, people were mostly cooking at home, with many still choosing to do so. That's when Mark decided to get creative and offer Ciao's kits, which can be shipped nationwide.
The Date Night Kit includes everything you'll need for a romantic meal at home, from breadsticks and Bruschetta spread to a pasta dinner and chocolate for dessert. You'll even get almonds to snack on and a bottle of red or white wine (your choice)!
The Porch Party kit has all kinds of savory snacks (and two bottles of wine), making it perfect for a small group gathering...
... and the Picnic in the Park kit features meats, cheeses, nuts, spreads, olives, and more.
The cost of the kits varies by size and volume, but the total price tag tends to be far less expensive than a night out.
It isn't easy for most Washingtonians to travel to Whidbey Island, much less Italy. Until you can, treat yourself to a taste of Italia at home.
