There is nothing like a paved rail trail to really make you forget how far you are actually walking (until you have to turn around!). What makes great rail trails in Washington even better? If they run through an area where there are other things to do. If you head out on the Snohomish Centennial Rail Trail, you can do just that in the city of Arlington.
The Snohomish County Centennial Rail Trail runs 30 miles, connecting Snohomish County to Skagit County. Its paved surface is a popular spot for biking and walking.
Construction began in 1989 and it was completed in 2013. It was named Centennial because 1989 was the centennial year for Washington State.
Not only can you connect to other trails from here, but along the way, you’ll be able to take in an assortment of scenery, from creeks and rivers to farmland and forest.
You can also ride your horse here as there is a ten-foot-wide pedestrian trail and a six-foot-wide equestrian trail.
The trail heads into Arlington at 67th Avenue and Washington State 531.
Within its 9.81 square miles, Arlington has 17 city-maintained parks to choose from that cover more than 257 acres as well as many other outdoor spots that are well worth a visit. So now that you’re here….
Visit the Outback Kangaroo Farm, a 400-acre area located off State Route 530.
