Who doesn't smile upon gazing at an adorable, fluffy, admittedly somewhat odd-looking alpaca? This camelid species, which is similar to the llama, is found all over South America. But you certainly don't have to venture that far to see them -- you can visit an alpaca farm right here in Washington.
Sawdust Hill Alpaca Farm is located 25448 Port Gamble Road NE in Poulsbo.
And since moving onto the property in 2007, this family has acquired some adorable additions.
The family started out with a small herd, eventually expanding. Now, they've been full-time farmers for over a decade.
There are certainly worse jobs to have.
Alpacas are a great investment, and not just because they look like some kind of amazing cartoon character.
They double as 'lawn mowers,' sell for a hefty price tag to other farmers, and create great, ahem, fertilizer.
Luckily (for us), Sawdust Hill Alpaca Farm allows visitors to come meet the alpacas.
You can take a barn tour daily for just $5 per person, or arrange a special tour on a weekend.
The farm also has chickens, meaning you can purchase a dozen fresh eggs for $6.
You'll also see dogs and cats wandering around the property.
Make sure to stop by the farm store, where you'll find plenty of great gifts.
These cozy alpaca blankets will keep you cozy at night.
You can schedule a tour of the farm by calling (360) 286-9999 or emailing [email protected].
Prepare to be greeted by lots of smiles like this.
If visiting an alpaca farm is right up your alley, you'll be pleased to know that you can also do yoga with goats here in Washington.
