Temperatures are on the rise here in Virginia and that -- usually -- means one thing: summer is on its way! In celebration of longer days and warm weather, we've scouted out a natural lazy river that's picture-perfect for a hot day. As you float along the Shenandoah, you can enjoy the natural scenery in the comfort of an inner tube. Here's more on your tubing trip in Luray, Virginia:
Your adventure on the Shenandoah River begins when you check into Shenandoah River Outfitters, located at 6502 S Page Valley Rd, Luray VA 22835.
There are three tubing trips per day, each beginning at 9:30 AM, 10:30 AM, or 11:30 AM. The trip can take between 3 - 5 hours, depending on water levels.
After checking in, tubers will be transported by bus to the river along with all rented equipment, including the inner tube and life jacket.
If you feel like bringing a picnic along with you, pack a personal cooler and you can rent a cooler tube for $6. Just remember there is no glass allowed near the water.
After you’ve gotten into the water, the only thing you need to worry about is enjoying the ride!
You’ll float down the river and a relaxing speed, enjoying all the sites along the way. Some of the natural attractions include limestone cliffs and deep pools where you can hop out for a quick swim.
Just be sure to wear your shoes at all times, as rocks near the shallow parts of the river can be slippery. You’ll also want to wear plenty of sun protection.
If you’re looking for something a little more fast paced, Shenandoah River Outfitters also offers canning and kayak rentals.
Can you imagine a better day to enjoy the great outdoors while staying cool this summer?
For pricing and reservations, you can visit the official Shenandoah River Outfitters website. Have you experienced tubing down any of Virginia's other rivers? Be sure to share your favorite spots with us!
