Hiking Virginia is just the best, isn't it? No matter which terrain you're trekking through -- be it mountains, farmland, or marshy coast -- you'll be in awe of the state's beauty. Today's feature hike is one that will take you high up into the mountains on a stunning two-mile loop. Along the way, you'll get to experience views of the mountains that will simply take your breath away. Layers upon layers of beautiful Blue Ridge for as far as the eye can see. Shall we begin our hike to beautiful mountain views in Virginia?
Welcome to Grayson Highlands Park, home to some of the state's loveliest and loftiest peaks.
For a quick escape into the magical terrain of the park, you'll take the Haw Orchard Mountain and Twin Pinnacles Loop. It's a 2.1-mile loop trail that takes approximately one hour to complete, and most hikers would rate it as moderate.
Along the way, keep your eyes peeled for intriguing points of interest in the woods. This tree growing over a boulder looks like something from a fairy tale!
You'll also happen upon a wooded shelter, perfect for moments when the weather changes suddenly and you're in need of some coverage.
Of course, the best part of the hike is appreciating the views. While this trail is relatively short, you'll definitely want to take time to soak in those Blue Ridge Mountains.
As you can imagine, the hike is especially beautiful during the autumn season, when the changing leaves add vibrant colors to the scene.
Hikers should note that depending on the weather, the wind can be intense at the pinnacle overlook.
So the next time you're in the mood for a true mountain adventure, you'll want to head to Grayson Highlands and enjoy this lovely little mountain loop.
