One of the surest signs of fall in Virginia is the tell-tale appearance of "Corn Maze" signs on the side of the road. From scarecrows to giant hay bales dressed as cartoon characters, we are lucky to have so many local farms in every part of the state that go out of their way to make fall festivities something to remember. Here are just a few a-MAZE-ing corn mazes in Virginia you won't want to miss...
1. Liberty Mills Farm, Somerset
Cited as the largest Virginia corn maze, Liberty Mills Farm definitely takes the prize for creativity! With 4 trails covering 25-acres, each trail offers different time and skill levels so that there's something perfect for any age group. 2. Back Home on the Farm, Harrisonburg
Back Home on the Farm makes going to the corn maze a full on adventure. Start with a wagon ride to the 7-acre pumpkin patch, then head back to the farm for over 35 activities and attractions and, of course, the 5-acres, 3-mile corn maze, full of exciting twists and turns, bridges and clues. 3. Corn Maze in the Plains
Voted as the best corn maze in the Northern Virginia/DC area, Corn Maze in the Plains features "Maze Attack" - a 5-acre shark-shaped corn maze that is sure to delight kids of ALL ages. With nighttime tours, pumpkins, prizes and plenty of other exciting activities, you won't want to miss Maze Attack. 4. Maize Quest at Bridgemont Farm, Quicksburg
Get ready to lose yourself to the fun at Bridgemont Farm's Maize Quest. Featuring an interactive adventure through the stalks, Maize Quest provides games and clues, aided by a trusty Maize-o-Vision secret decoder, that will take every explorer through to the end. Located in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley just outside of Harrisonburg, Bridgemont Farm also offers flashlight tours, hay rides, a "super" slide, pedal carts and many more fall activities in Virginia. 5. Wayside Farm, Berryville
Easily accessible from Northern Virginia, Wayside Farm offers patriotic fall fun with their 10-acre American Pride corn maze. 6. Belvedere Plantation, Fredericksburg
The Maize Maze Adventure at Belvedere Plantation honors the farm's mascot, Cogburn the Rooster, with a giant rooster-shaped maze that will keep you and the kids entertained for hours! 7. The Crab Orchard Corn Maze at the Historic Crab Orchard Museum
Visiting the Historic Crab Orchard Museum and Pioneer Park is fun any time of the year, but add a 3 1/2 acre corn maze, plus food, hay rides, crafts and pumpkins from Pisgah Pumpkin Patch and you've got a recipe for all-day fun. 8. Lloyd Family Farms, Rockville Richmond
To take things to a slightly more sinister level, Lloyd Family Farms delivers a hauntingly good time with the Old Crow Horror Show Haunted Corn Maze. With live animals and monsters of all shapes and sizes, the "Skinner Boys" are waiting around the corner in this deliciously eerie maze and hay ride.
