The marvelous granite stone building was designed and built in 1836 by Alexander Twilight, the first known African-American to receive a college degree in the United States. Mr. Twilight graduated from Middleburg College in 1823.
Since 1925, the Old Stone House Museum has been in operation, sharing and educating guests on everyday life in Vermont in a bygone era.
Brownington Village Historic District is home to 10 different buildings that have been designated to the National Register of Historic Places.
