1. Sugarbush Farm, Woodstock

Visit this 500-acre third generation maple and cheese farm year-round. You'll instantly be captivated by the stunning scenery and the quaint country charm of this long-standing farm.

Take a self-guided maple walk through the forest to see how syrup gets its start. Then tour the sugarhouse where the sap is transformed into delicious syrup. Check out the cheese workshop where the fresh product is wrapped and waxed before heading to the tasting room where you can sample all of the yummy farm products.

2. Billings Farm & Museum, Woodstock

Billings Farm & Museum will give you an up-close view of farming past and present. Visit the working dairy farm and then head to the museum for a little history.

Year-round special events and programs keep visits to this farm new every time. Learn about the maple sugaring process, life on a rural farm, and how general stores operate. At the milking barn, you can check out the dairy cows that produce the milk used to make delicious cheese at the farm.

4. Merck Forest & Farmland Center, Rupert

Merck Forest & Farmland is a unique setting where you can combine nature with farming. An extensive property allows you plenty of areas to explore.

Learn about the maple sugaring process, hike or snowshoe on over 30 miles of marked trails, or enjoy a horse-drawn sleigh ride. You can even stay overnight in one of the rustic cabins available for rental.

5. The Barnstead Inn, Manchester

The Barnstead Inn is a perfect overnight stop for your getaway. The cozy family-run inn has 14 rooms available for rental and they are charming as can be.

6. Baird Farm, North Chittenden

Head north to Baird Farm where maple syrup has been in production since 1918. This long-standing family operation is truly a Vermont treasure.

Visit the farm for a tour of the maple operation and to sample four grades of pure maple syrup next to the sugarhouse. Of course, you're invited to shop and restock your pantry from the shop or pick up some gifts for friends not lucky enough to live in the Green Mountain State.

7. Shelburne Farms, Shelburne

Shelburne Farms is widely known for its excellent cheeses. Start your visit at the welcome center where you can plan your stay.

Enjoy walking trails and a visit to the farmyard. Special demonstrations and tours take place throughout the season. Sample all of the cheeses that are made right here at the farm and then shop for your favorites to take home.
