Arches National Park is one of Utah's most treasured gems, and it's easy to see why. The park has more than 2,000 natural arches, and more than a dozen trails so you can explore some of the most famous.
Double O Arch is two arches in one, and you can see it on the Devil's Garden Trail. Take a look:
To find Double O Arch, you'll take the Devils Garden Loop. It's 4.2 miles roundtrip, and the second portion of the trail is fairly strenuous.
Make sure that you're adequately prepared for your adventure! Bring along plenty of water, and wear sturdy hiking shoes.
For the first mile, you'll enjoy easy hiking, and you'll witness the views of Landscape Arch - the world's largest arch with a span of 290 feet!
Keep an eye out for wildlife along the trail. Mule deer, with their soft, brown eyes and huge ears, are plentiful in this area.
After you pass Landscape Arch, the hiking trail becomes much more difficult as you hop onto the primitive loop. As long as you're up for a challenge, it's well worth your effort.
Along the way, you'll see some incredible scenery - huge, sandstone fins dominate this landscape. You can also explore small spur trails that take you to Navajo Arch and Partition Arch.
To reach Double O Arch, you'll scramble right up along one of the huge, sandstone fins. This is where those sturdy hiking shoes come in handy! Use your hands and feet to make your way up the sandstone, and be careful of the steep drop-offs.
You'll be rewarded for your efforts when you reach Double O Arch, which is certainly picturesque. It's actually two arches in the same fin.
The larger arch has an impressive span of 71 feet; the small arch tucked underneath is 21 feet across.
Views of the rugged Utah landscape through the larger arch make for some great photos.
It's difficult to imagine the immense size of Double O Arch from photos, but in this one, you can see some hikers down in front of the smaller arch.
As you make your way back to the Devils Garden Trailhead, you can take another short trail to Primitive Arch, which will add another mile to your hike.
