We Utahns love ice cream! In fact, the state ranks 8th in the country for ice cream consumption. We have plenty of national chain shops, such as Baskin Robbins, Cold Stone or Sub Zero. There are also tons of great fast-food joints that serve killer shakes (hello, Iceberg!) But for this list, I stuck to old-fashioned ice cream parlors that serve locally-produced ice cream.
1) Aggie Ice Cream, Logan
Of the 26 flavors of ice cream made at Utah State University, Aggie Blue Mint is the most popular (it’s mint-flavored ice cream with Oreos and white chocolate chips). 750 North 1200 East.
2) BYU Creamery, Provo
Have you ever eaten an ice cream sundae inside a grocery store? The BYU Creameries are campus grocery stores but they got their start as outlets selling university-produced milk, cheese and ice cream. The ice cream parlor inside features dozens of homemade flavors.
1209 North 900 East, 1990 North 40 West, 141 CANC, Brigham Young University campus.
3) Casper’s Ice Cream, Richmond
Home of the Fatboy, Casper’s Ice Cream is manufactured in Richmond. Visitors can get a taste of the deliciousness at the Malt Shop on the premises. 11805 N. 200 W.
4) Eli’s Old Fashioned Ice Cream and Soda Shop, Payson
This adorable little parlor just opened in April, 2015. They serve fresh ice cream from BYU Creamery and Red Barn. 7 South Main Street.
5) Farr Better Ice Cream, Ogden
In business since 1920, Farr’s is one of Utah’s oldest ice cream manufacturers. The ice cream parlor is an Ogden classic with over 70 flavors. 274 East 21st Street.
6) Farr’s Fresh, 6 locations
Same family name, same ice cream, slightly different ice cream parlors. These 6 franchise locations serve Farr’s Premium ice cream and also frozen yogurt and custard. Located in Orem, Sandy, Salt Lake City (City Creek), South Ogden, Vernal and inside the Energy Solutions Arena in SLC.
7) The Fix Family Ice Cream Treatery, Cedar City
22 flavors of ice cream and over 35 mix-ins. Flavors change daily. 1760 North Main Street.
8) The Frozen Udder, Brigham City
Serves 32 flavors of Farr’s ice cream. 646 South Main Street.

10) The Peach City, Brigham City
