Just outside of Bryce Canyon National Park sits a must-visit general store in Utah — Ruby’s Inn General Store. With nearly a century of history, this general store in Utah is still the place to go to find everything you need while in this southern Utah park — odds and ends, souvenirs, delicious foods, and more. You certainly won’t want to miss it when you visit one of the most beautiful national parks in Utah.
Ruby’s Inn dates back to the early 1900s when Reuben C. Syrett, also known as Ruby, established a ranch near the current Ruby’s Inn.
Not too long after moving to the area, the Syrett family heard of an incredible canyon and paid a visit one Sunday afternoon. They fell in love and in 1919, officially received permission to build a lodge at the canyon, which was known as the Tourist Rest.
Just a few years later in 1923, Bryce Canyon became a national monument and Ruby moved the Tourist Rest to his ranch, which was closer to the canyon, and changed its name to Ruby’s Inn. Today, it is one of the largest businesses in the area.
It’s hard to miss Ruby’s Inn as it is located less than two miles from the entrance to Bryce Canyon National Park and you'll drive right past it as you head to the stunning canyon.
As you walk inside this historic general store, you’ll see shelves and shelves filled with all types of products. For example, this general store is the place to go if you need groceries or snacks before heading into the park.
You can also find items like clothing, shoes, jewelry, and souvenirs.
Ruby’s Inn General Store also features a unique rock shop where you can purchase all types of rocks, fossils, minerals, and even petrified wood.
You can spend a lot of time exploring this large general store and once you start to feel those hunger pains, you are in the perfect location.
Ruby’s Inn is home to three great restaurants including the Cowboy Buffet and Steak Room, Canyon Diner, and Ebenezer’s Barn and Grill.
There are also a variety of lodging options here including hotel rooms, an RV park, and a campground where you can also find cabins and tipis.
