When you are looking for a fun and scenic outdoor adventure with your entire family, a hike is a perfect solution. This paved trail takes you next to a historic barn and through gorgeous scenery. It’s an afternoon adventure and one of the best easy hikes in Utah that is just waiting to be explored.
You can find the trailhead to this paved trail on the side of Highway 224, near McPolin Barn in Park City.
The entire trail is 3.6 miles out and back. This is a paved trail, making it highly accessible for wheelchairs and strollers.
This is the perfect hiking trail if you simply want to take a stroll outside with the family, but you don’t want anything too strenuous. The Farm Trail is flat and is used primarily by walkers, runners, and cyclists and is one of the best hikes in Utah for kids.
Keep your eyes out for hikers and cyclists as this trail can become quite busy, and always be respectful of others.
You’ll want to experience this hiking trail in every season of the year. During the summer, the trail offers some gorgeous, green, and vibrant views.
While in the fall, the foliage around this area is incredible.
This trail will take you near the McPolin Barn. This historic barn was built in 1921, however, the farm itself goes all the way back to 1886.
This is certainly no small barn and it is a highlight of this entire paved path. The barn measures 7,468 square feet with a 1,500-square-foot milking parlor. This is actually one of the most photographed barns in Utah.
If you walk near the barn, you can also access the beautiful McPolin Farm Nature Trail, which is a 1.75-mile easy loop trail that takes you near the barn, through aspen trees, and past 11 interpretive signs.
This is a narrow dirt trail and not accessible to wheelchairs and strollers like the Farm Trail.
As you explore the Farm Trail, be aware that there is little shade along your journey. While you will walk along a portion of aspen trees, for the majority of this trail, you are exposed to the sun’s harsh rays.
During the summer months, this trail can become quite hot and we suggest exploring it during the morning or the evening hours.
However, in our humble opinion, dawn and dusk are some of the best times to tackle the Farm Trail in Park City. The sunrises and sunsets can be quite stunning!
