The Bonneville Shoreline Trail traverses the foothills along the Salt Lake Valley, and reaches farther south and north, as well. All along the trail, you'll find some beautiful valley views, but when you reach Draper, there's a cool suspension bridge that carries you across a deep ravine. You can access the bridge from the Bonneville Trail, or take a much shorter hiker for a nearby park. Either way, this trail is one that everyone will love.
Since this trail hooks into the Bonneville Shoreline trail, there are actually a few trailheads. One way to access the bridge is from the Orson Smith Trailhead Park, located at 12625 Highland Dr., Draper, UT 84020. The park offers parking and restrooms before you head up the trail.
The 2.3-mile loop trail is rated as easy, with a 439-foot elevation gain.
Dog lovers will be happy to see that this trail is dog-friendly, but you are required to keep your pup on leash.
During spring and summer months, the hills are nice and green, and you'll see wildflowers along the way. In the fall and winter, enjoy fall foliage views or a snowy valley landscape.
You'll want to bring your camera along on this hike; the valley views are spectacular.
The suspension bridge was built in 2015, with the intent to keep hikers out of the watershed area. The bridge is 185 feet long, and was built by Ralph L. Wadsworth Construction, completely funded by donations.
If you're afraid of heights, you might not want to look down while you're crossing.
It's about 130 feet down!
This is a fun trail that's suitable for most hikers, and kids will love the excitement of crossing the bridge.
