It can be hard to find fun and warm activities to do during Milwaukee winters. Thankfully, the Milwaukee Public Museum has it's very own butterfly wing! Check out this tropical habitat that will transport yourself to a new, colorful world.

The Puelicher Butterfly Wing is located on the first floor of the Milwaukee Public Museum.

Once inside, you'll walk through a tropical environment made for butterflies.

It's always a balmy 80 degrees!

The learning opportunities are endless, just like the natural beauty.

You can learn about how a caterpillar completely transforms into a lovely butterfly.

The museum is lucky to have a collection of over 1,000 different moths and butterflies.

Many species in this collection are donated, and it's constantly growing!

If you're lucky, you may even see a butterfly emerge from its chrysalis!

Please note, watch your step!

While visiting the vivarium, you'll be surrounded by these beautiful creatures. It's not uncommon that will will land on—or under—you, so please be aware of your surroundings and keep an eye out for these delicate creatures.

There's always something fluttering by in the vivarium.

The Puelicher Butterfly Wing is free with regular museum admission. The Milwaukee Public Museum is located at 800 W. Wells St., Milwaukee (and admission to the museum is free every first Thursday of the month!). The butterfly vivarium closes at 4 p.m daily.
