You're all set to go...somewhere. But let's be real. Gas can get pretty pricey, right? This is especially true if you're traveling far, or if you are looking to stack up the best road trips in Wisconsin for one super adventure. Fortunately, you can get to several great places and all on one tank of gas. Most cars can go around 300 miles on a tank of gas. We charted a nice little trip for you that is just around 300 miles. Given the amount of cool things you can do on this trip, you may want to spread it over a few days. Here's the map.
This trip starts in scenic New Glarus and ends in Sister Bay. It's a southwestern to northeastern road trip you are sure to love!
1. New Glarus
Start off in this quaint town by touring the New Glarus brewery. Enjoy its Swiss heritage by taking in a festival or simply walking around town.
2. Mt. Horeb
Everyone has to drive through this town and experience the "Trollway." People line the streets with trolls and it is quite a sight to see.
3. Madison
Make a detour to Madison. Tour the capitol building and then hit up the Henry Vilas Zoo. If you love botanical gardens, be sure to check out Olbrich Botanical Gardens. Eat a picnic lunch by Lake Monona.
4. Baraboo
Even if clowns scare you, do yourself a favor and check out Circus World. We also recommend the Devil's Lake State Park area (as well as Pewit's Nest).
5. Wisconsin Dells
You can't be this close to Wisconsin Dells and not go. There are loads of water parks to check out, but make sure to go to the granddaddy of them all, Noah's Ark.
6. Oshkosh
Take a boat out on the water at Lake Winnebago. Then switch gears to planes, and check out EAA AirVenture Museum.
7. Appleton
Appleton offers some awesome shots of the Fox River. After you see that, check out the mall and get a bite to eat.
8. Green Bay
You have to take in a game at Lambeau Field or at least tour the facility. Other notable things to do are to go to Bay Beach Amusement Park or NEW Zoo.
9. Sturgeon Bay
Not quite as popular as the rest of Door County, downtown Sturgeon Bay has a lot to offer in the way of shops and dining. Make sure to check out "The Farm," where you can feed baby farm animals.
10. Sister Bay
End your time walking around gorgeous Sister Bay. Eat at Al Johnson's, a restaurant with goats on the roof. Then take in a play by the Peninsula Players (all outdoors).
