This nature preserve might seem hidden, but it holds the biggest views of our lake. With seemingly-never-ending trails, bluffs unlike any other, and truly unchanged nature preserves, this natural oasis just north of Milwaukee is simply breathtaking.
Welcome to Lion's Den Gorge!
This nature preserve is just 30 minutes north of Milwaukee in Grafton.
The overlooks of Lake Michigan from the bluffs are absolutely breathtaking.
This preserve is home to some of the last undeveloped bluffs upon our lakeside, and it's truly magical.
This place is a hikers paradise with over 73 acres of trails to explore.
No matter the time of year, people come from all over to hike through these beautiful trails that truly make you feel like you're in a fairy tale.
From wetlands to prairies and forests, there's no place within this preserve that doesn't have an incredible view.
Lion's Den features staircases and boardwalks so that you can access the most beautiful, hidden parts of this nature lover's paradise. This bridge leads to a staircase that goes down to the shoreline.
This preserve is home to an abundance of wildlife.
Next to the preserve is a 44-acre wetland area owned by United States Fish and Wildlife Service, which works to increase the presence of wildlife in the area.
If you love bird watching, this place is for you!
You'll spot many species of birds and other wildlife in this incredible park.
From 100-foot overlooks to a maze of natural trails, this hidden slice of greenery is unlike anywhere else.
There is even a natural area that hasn't been touched since before the settlement of Wisconsin! If you're looking for a true nature preserve, this is it!
You must get out to this beautiful spot as soon as possible!
