1. Cheesecake Heaven - Wisconsin Dells
These folks started in Green Bay but have a Wisconsin Dells location that's the perfect spot to kick off this trip. Whether you're a fan of a simple and plain slice of cheesecake or you're looking for something a bit more complex, these folks have you covered. Located at 231 Broadway, Wisconsin Dells, WI 53965.
2. Little Village Cafe - Baraboo
All anyone that's been here can talk about is the chocolate mousse torte. It's a plate full of creamy, decadent chocolate that is just on the right side of too much chocolate. The scoop of ice cream helps cut it as well, but you'll probably still want some milk. It's a plate of rich, dreamy goodness that you won't ever regret. Located at 146 4th Ave., Baraboo, WI 53913.
3. Wollersheim Winery - Sauk City
An unorthodox pick, maybe, but ice wine is some of the most rare and unusual wine and it only grows in certain locations - and many of the vineyards don't even bother with it since it's so fussy. Catching the grapes as the outside starts to freeze, but the sugars inside don't is a difficult process, but it yields amazing wine that's super-sweet and really amazing. Located at 7876 WI-188, Sauk City, WI 53583.
4. Chrysalis Pops - Madison
Not only do these organic popsicles come in a variety of fresh, delicious and interesting flavors, but the company is centered on providing work opportunities to those with mental health difficulties by offering hope, healing and wellness. Chrysalis does not have a brick and mortar location, but can be found at Eastside and Capital View farmers markets, as well as local festivals and for private hire.
5. Hubbard Avenue Diner - Middleton
It's all about the pies here at Hubbard Avenue Diner. From the deliciously decadent red velvet pie to the unique and truly Wisconsin old-fashioned pie and so many more, you'll want to come back again and again to try them all.
Located at 7445 Hubbard Ave, Middleton, WI 53562.
6. Infusion Chocolates - Madison
These chocolates are as delicious as they are beautiful. For nearly 10 years these folks have been hand-making some of the most amazing little bits of amazing that you can imagine. From classic to fun, funky flavors, you'll find it all here. Grab some for now and some to go and fall in love with artisan chocolate. Located at 2503 Monroe St., Madison, WI 53711.
7. Basset Street Brunch Club - Madison
A great spot to recover from a long night out with a super-interesting menu, Basset Street Brunch club also makes some of the most decadent and intense donuts you've ever seen. Sure, they're great for breakfast, but I've definitely taken one (or two) home to snack on when my sweet tooth awakens later in the day. Located at 444 W Johnson St, Madison, WI 53703.
8. Osteria Papavero - Madison
No matter how delicious you find your meal, locals will tell you that you must save room for the Budino di Caramello. And also order one to go for later. It's that good. These folks have a rotating menu, but the Budino never leaves - Madison might revolt. The butterscotch pudding is rich caramel and cinnamon with cocoa powder dusted on top. I'm literally drooling thinking about it. Located at 128 E Wilson St, Madison, WI 53703.
9. Madison Sourdough - Madison
You might know these folks for their stellar brunch and bread counter, but have you ever wandered next door to take a peek at the delectable little bites they've got in the display case? These pastries are works of art and the macarons are the perfect mix of chewy and crumbly while delivering big on flavor. I could live here if they let me. Located at 916 Williamson St, Madison, WI 53703.
10. Chocolaterian Cafe - Madison
Please note, Chocolaterian Cafe is no longer in business.
This place started with the idea of creating goodies to showcase Wisconsin butter. Now they have two locations and everything from fancy patisserie to my favorite Monona bars - an upscale and more delicious version of the Rice Krispie Treat. Located at 2004 Atwood Ave, Madison, WI 53704.
