We previously highlighted some of the attractions around Oglebay Resort, but there's a new reason to visit again this coming weekend. Starting November 11th, the park comes alive with an incredible holiday light display...and you can take a trolley ride to fully sit back and enjoy the show.
Trolley tours take place several times each night starting at Wilson Lodge.
Visitors can also walk or take their cars through the light displays.
The Winter Festival of Lights has been an annual show at Oglebay since 1985.
This year the light show will run from November 11, 2016 – January 8, 2017.
Every year new displays are added.
One recent addition is this colorful tunnel full of red, green, and blue LED lights. The colors of the lights move and combine to create over 16 million new colors!
But people still love seeing the old displays, too.
This life-sized nativity scene was designed and created by a local artist. It's been part of the festival since 1987.
Here's a video from last year at Oglebay that shows more of the light displays, as well as additional attractions around the resort.
Information from the resort website:
The Winter Festival of Lights is viewable Sunday through Thursday until 10:00 p.m. and on Friday and Saturday until 11:00 p.m. A per car donation is requested and is valid for the entire festival season. Trolley tours are offered several times each night beginning at Wilson Lodge.
Saturdays are very popular nights to visit the light show. Because of this, long lines should be expected and wait times can be long. Please visit us Sundays through Friday to avoid extended wait times.
Oglebay Resort & Conference Center is located at 465 Lodge Drive, Wheeling, WV 26003
