If you have a sweet tooth, then we have a road trip in West Virginia just for you! Tackle this scenic West Virginia drive that just so happens to pass five deliciously sweet dessert shops! Start in Lewisburg and end in Seebert (near Marlinton), a journey of just under an hour without stops.
1. Amy's Market
Start at Amy's Market in Lewisburg, a bakery that's also known as Amy's Cakes and Cones. They're open Tuesdays through Saturdays and serve breakfast and lunch, in addition to all the tasty sweet treats this market offers fresh from the oven.
2. Taste of Heaven Bakery & Cheese Shop
Next stop, is Taste of Heaven Bakery and Cheese Shop in Maxwelton, just north of Lewisburg. Taste of Heaven is perched right along the Seneca Trail and offers a wide variety of baked goods, cheeses, and other products! Taste of Heaven is open Monday through Friday.
3. Bones & Cones
Bones & Cones is a unique dog-and-people ice cream parlor that's also located in Maxwelton. What a fun concept! Here's the catch: it's generally only open Fridays through Sundays from May through October.
4. Good Roads Bakehouse
Next up is Good Roads Bakehouse, a small batch bakery located in Frankford, West Virginia, and open Fridays and Saturdays. But despite this bakery's small size and limited hours, it is well worth tracking down: it made South Magazine's 2022 Taste 50 list!
5. Jack Horner's Corner
Finally, enjoy a scenic drive on up through Marlinton, and finish your trip with some pizza and soft serve ice cream from Jack Horner's Corner in Seebert. Open seven days a week, Jack Horner's Corner also sells souvenirs, some groceries, and cold drinks.
What a sweet tooth road trip in wild, wonderful West Virginia! Will you be trying it? Aim for a Friday during late spring, summer, or early fall for the best chance of finding all five shops open!
