Now that the weather has warmed up and going outside isn't like a chore anymore, it's time to take to the skies and see our state from a bird's eye view.
The Wild Blue Adventure Company in Fayetteville offers a different kind of experience than most other places in West Virginia. The adventure you can take there occurs thousands of feet in the air, and it is a ride unlike any other in the state.
At WBAC, a trained pilot will take you up in an authentic Stearman biplane from the World War II era. These planes were originally designed for just two people, so these rides allow only one passenger at a time.
Once in the air, the ride can be as basic or exciting as you'd like. You can simply fly level for a sightseeing ride over the mountains, or you can take an aerobatic flight with loops and flips. The choice is yours.
During the flight, you will remain in constant communication with the pilot via an onboard communication system. You will also have the opportunity to purchase a video of your flight if you wish. A video system on the plane records every flight.
The company offers four flights: A 20-minute flight over the New River Gorge, a 40-minute flight which includes the New River Gorge and Summersville Lake, another 40-minute flight over Kanawha Falls, and a 1-hour flight that passes over all three locations. So, whatever your preference, these rides will show you West Virginia from a point of view that is truly unique.
The Wild Blue Adventure Company is located at 282 Hinkle Rd. in Fayetteville.
