Walla Walla is officially the best wine region in the USA (for the third year running) and was listed as one of Forbes' 22 Best Places To Travel In The U.S. In 2022. And that's just the beginning. When it comes to travel destinations, Walla Walla is seemingly always in the spotlight these days. But are there any famous people from Walla Walla?
Recent fame aside, Walla Walla is just a charming small town we're proud to have in Washington. It also happens to be the hometown of one of the most beloved and best-known celebrities of the 20th century, Adam West.
Walla Walla is located in the southeast corner of Washington.
Although it's the largest city in Walla Walla County, its population of 33,000 makes it a small town by any definition.
While it's primarily known for its wine scene these days, Walla Walla has always been known as one of the most fertile agricultural areas in the nation.
Even when it was simply a small farm town, it was known for the famous Walla Walla Sweet Onions.
But here's something many people don't know about Walla Walla: it was the birthplace of the late great actor Adam West.
William West Anderson, aka Adam West, was born in September of 1928 right here in Walla Walla, Washington.
West lived in Walla Walla for all of his childhood, attending Walla Walla High School (like football player Drew Bledsoe) for two years before moving to Seattle at 15 with his mother after his parents divorced.
West's mother, Audrey Volenne, had actually been an opera singer, so he decided to follow in his mother's footsteps and go to Hollywood. And after graduating from Whitman College, he did.
Adam West was known for a lot of roles, but many of us know him as the best Batman ever.
He also did a lot of voiceover work and, in his later years, played himself as Mayor Adam West on Family Guy.
West passed away in 2017 at the age of 88.
He lived a long, full life, and it's pretty great that it all started right here in Adam West's hometown of Walla Walla.
Walla Walla is a fantastic place to visit, and it clearly has more than one claim to fame.
Wine, onions, Drew Bledsoe, and Adam West... it's safe to say this little city has a lot of character.
