Darrington is a gorgeous town located in the valley of the North Cascades in Snohomish County. Darrington was the birthplace of Bob Barker who was best known for hosting the Price is Right. While he didn't live here long and spent most of his childhood in South Dakota, it's certainly a fun fact about this town.
While small, Darrington has plenty to offer visitors. Between the mountains and the Sauk and Stillaguamish River Valleys, you can spend hours hiking.
You can also hop in your car and take a scenic drive along the Mountain Loop Highway National Forest Scenic Byway. The starting point of this scenic drive is in Darrington and leads through several towns until it ends in Granite Falls.
While there aren't many hotel or motel options in town, camping is always a possibility here and the perfect way to disconnect from your devices and connect with nature instead.
Aside from hiking and camping, there are a few places in town to visit. If you're hungry and/or want a drink, stop by the Red Top Tavern, one of the local bars in town.
You can also check out a local brewery while you're here. River Time Brewing is a small-batch brewery located in Darrington's Old City Hall. Aside from its amazing beer on tap, you can also order a sandwich, pizza, nachos, or the daily special.
