1. Port Townsend
Known as a Victorian and seaport community, this artsy city is the perfect place for anyone who enjoys the amenities of a city but wants a small town atmosphere. Port Townsend is amazing to visit and difficult to leave.
2. Poulsbo
Washington’s Little Norway is located in Kitsap County on Liberty Bay. It is beautiful and peaceful with a rich Scandinavian history and plenty of fun things to do. The Muriel Iverson Williams Waterfront Park is the perfect place to take a walk.
3. Leavenworth
How could our stunning Alpine village not make the list? Downtown Leavenworth is beautifully designed, kept in pristine condition, and features some of the most adorable shops and tasty restaurants you’ll find anywhere. It’s Washington’s arguably most amazing mountain getaway spot.
4. Waitsburg
Located north of Walla Walla, the historic town of Waitsburg is the one community in Washington that still operates under its own Territorial Charter. It’s a fun town to walk through, and the Whoopemup Hollow Cafe is as awesome as it sounds.
5. Chelan
Lake Chelan is a magical place to be during the summer, but the actual resort community of Chelan is beautiful and inviting in any season. They’ve got galleries and wineries if you’re looking for a cultured experience, year-round festivals, and abundant outdoor recreation.
6. Stevenson
You’ll find Stevenson on the banks of the Columbia river about 45 miles east of Vancouver. There are a lot of fun places crammed into this small town, ranging from a distillery, Skunk Brothers Spirits, to hiking to the nearby Punch Bowl Falls. Stevenson has good restaurants, a gorgeous waterfront park, and the always impressive Skamania Lodge.
7. Republic
Republic was founded by gold prospectors, and this town of around 1,100 people still maintains its early charms. It sits nestled in a valley up in Ferry County, a bit off the beaten path… but if you visit, you’ll probably fall in love.
8. La Push
The entire Olympic Peninsula looks dreamy and mystical, and the small community of La Push is especially enchanting. The oceanfront resorts, seafood company, revamped marina and tasty restaurants make this slow-paced town a must-see for local tourists.
9. Roslyn
Once the setting for the popular show Northern Exposure, this delightful little mountain town in the Cascade Mountains is a fun place to explore. There’s not much to it, of course, but somehow that makes it even more appealing.
10. Westport
This little coastal community isn’t as popular as Long Beach, but it’s just as beautiful. Go antique shopping, take a stroll on the boardwalk, try your hand at fishing or dig for clams. You’ll love Westport.
11. Sequim
Best known for its beautiful lavender farms, Sequim also has a charming downtown area, shops, great restaurants and plenty of nearby places to explore, like the New Dungeness Lighthouse and Olympic National Park.
12. Ellensburg
The home of Central Washington University is located right in the center of the state. The historic ambiance, urban amenities like shopping and art, and close proximity to almost any outdoor activity makes it a beautiful place to visit or live.

Hop a ferry to Whidbey Island from Mukilteo and you’ll soon be in the lovely town of Langley. This artsy island community is peaceful, fun, and visually stunning.
