When you live in Washington, delicious food is never far away. From our biggest foodie city, Seattle, to our small neighborhood gems, our restaurant scene gets better every year.
Some small towns, like Port Townsend and Leavenworth, are already well known for their tasty dining options. However, these 7 spots on this list also have some seriously amazing eateries that happen to be highly underrated. Make one of these towns your next day trip or weekend getaway destination... and go hungry.
1. Lynden
Our charming Dutch inspired town has plenty of delicious dining options, ranging from classic American entrees (The Mill, Steakhouse 9) to Thai (Chandara House). But they're best known for their scrumptious baked goods, especially the treats you'll find at Gretchen’s Delight. If you go, don't miss out on brunch at Dutch Mothers Family Restaurant.
2. Pullman
Gone are the days when the WSU were forced to cross the border into Idaho for some tasty eats. From classic spots like Sella's and Rico's to the more contemporary eateries like Black Cypress and Fujiyama , not to mention pizza, Mexican food and whatever else you're craving, Pullman has a little bit of everything (and it's all good).
3. Anacortes
Often called the "gateway to the San Juan Islands," Anacortes can hold its own when it comes to eateries. The seafood at Adrift is amazing, and A’Town Bistro and Ciao Bella never disappoint. Dad's Diner (pictured here) has become a local favorite, serving scrumptious brunch food and BBQ.
4. Roslyn
Once famous for being the filming spot for the show Northern Exposure, Roslyn has returned to the quiet small town it has been since 1898. But the newer restaurants in town, such as the outstanding Roslyn Mexican Grill, bring some fresh options to town. Of course, the classics like Roslyn Cafe and The Red Bird Cafe never disappoint.
5. Chehalis
Chehalis may be a small town, but dining at Jeremy's Farm to Table (pictured here) will make you feel like you're in a much bigger city. Once Upon A Thyme, Taqueria Juquilita and Market Street Pub & Grill are a few other local gems.
6. La Conner
There's not much to the town of La Conner, but if all you do when you're there is eat and enjoy the views, you'll leave feeling very happy. From the tasty Mexican fare at Santo Coyote to fresh oysters and champagne at Nell Thorn (pictured here), this town is a treasure for foodies. The Slider Cafe and The Oyster Thistle are also delightful.
7. Woodinville
Woodinville might be known for its wineries, but it's got a plethora of tasty restaurant options to go with that vino. The Bistro at Hollywood Schoolhouse, The PicNic Table, Tipsy Cow Burger Bar and Purple Cafe and Wine Bar are just a few of the top choices in town. In fact, Woodinville is home to the only 5-Diamond rated restaurant in the Northwest, The Herbfarm.
