See if the following photographs don't just convince you to visit this historic winter wonderland:
Deemed "postcard-perfect," the town of Middleburg has utterly charmed visitors since its formation in 1787.
Middleburg is known for its populations of horses and dogs, and for its tradition of fox hunting. The town kicks off the holiday season with a festive parade that includes many of these creatures.
Middleburg's warm welcome of the holiday season during the first weekend in December is a tradition that dates back to 1914.
This lively parade attracts more than 10,000 visitors to this Northern Virginia town, which is just about an hour outside of D.C.
Even without having attended the parade, you will still enjoy the effects of a southern Christmas town truly transformed.
The town has over 160 buildings that are designated on the National Register of Historic Places. What better time to explore some of these sites than during the holidays?
Step inside the Salamander Inn & Spa, for example, and you'll be dazzled by the giant tree decked out in all sorts of Christmas splendor.
There are plenty of decorations to be admired outside, too. Whether you've got an eye for simple string lights or decked out trees, you'll love just how much effort has gone into the festive decor.
If you need to warm up for a bit, step inside a local cafe such as Middleburg Coffee Grounds for homemade soup and a specialty coffee drink.
With so many wintery attractions, it's no wonder that this storybook town is considered one of the most charming of its kind in the whole region.
