When many people hear "Woodstock," they think of the hippie music festival with peace, love and lots of mud. But Woodstock, Vermont is much more quaint, charming and Vermont-esque. 1. Browse in the village shops.
Founded in 1761, Woodstock is a typical, charming New England town.
2. Sugarbush Farm - A "must visit" kind of place!
You'll love this farm where you can feed the animals (pictured are the goats Nibbles, Kibbles and Peanut Butter) as well as learn how they make their award winning cheeses and maple syrup. The couple here are just about the sweetest people you'll ever meet - they've been together for 60 years!!!
3. Visit Gillingham’s.
Operating since 1858, this is Woodstock’s oldest store. As the saying goes: If you can't find something at a Vermont General Store, you don't need it.
4. Check out the Woodstock Inn & Resort.
This classic, stately and welcoming place has everything from giant logs in the fireplace to a salt water pool at the spa.
5. Hike to the top of Mt. Tom.
It only takes about 30-45 minutes to hike to the top, and as you can see, the views are totally worth it.
6. Have a bite at the Mon Vert Cafe.
From the maple lattes to the spicey chipotle BLT, it's worth your while to stop into the Mon Vert Cafe. Pictured is the "The BBQ Bliss": made with local New England PulledPork, apple and garden tomato house made bbq sauce, romaine, Grafton Village Cheese Company smoked cheddar, and basil aioli. All served on an organic Red Hen Baking Co. rustic roll. Fresh and fabulous!
7. A river runs through it.
Check out the lovely Ottauquechee River.
8. Stroll around the village.
The heart of the village is a triangle formed by three roads. Looking down one of the "long" sides of the triangle to where it meets the shortest side, you see this classic church building.
9. Find a quiet spot and enjoy the silence.

10. Check out the farmers market.
Vermonters love their farmers markets, and Woodstock has a huge offering. Here you'll find everything from fruits to flowers, and loads in between.
