Autumn is the perfect time for a little day trip in Utah; the weather is cool and the fall foliage is in full color. If you're looking for a charming Utah town to visit, consider Logan. It's just big enough to have plenty to offer, yet still small enough that you can explore a lot of its features during a day trip.
Logan was founded in 1859. Though its population today exceeds 50,000, it's still a charming, quaint town with a vibrant Main Street.

Hike to the Wind Cave.
This gorgeous hiking trail has plenty of great views and a cool cavern. The trailhead is located about five miles up Logan Canyon. This steep hike takes you up 1,000 feet and is about three miles round-trip.
Take a walk on the grounds of the Logan Tabernacle.
The gardens are gorgeous in the fall. 50 N. Main Street.
Stop in for lunch at Bluebird Restaurant.
This historic restaurant is located at 19 N. Main Street. Opened in 1923, it's one of Utah's oldest restaurants, and still features the original soda fountain.
Visit Willow Park Zoo.
Visit nearly 100 species of animals at this little zoo. 419 W. 700 S.
Hike the Crimson Trail.
The Crimson Trail takes you along the China Wall formation and up about 600 feet in about four miles. You can see Wind Cave across from the trail.
Stroll through the campus of Utah State University.
This campus is really beautiful in the fall. Stop in at the creamery for some Aggie Blue Mint ice cream.
Take in a football game.
See home games on October 22 and 28th, and November 12th.
Enjoy a delicious Italian dinner at LeNonne.

To get to Logan, most Utahns will take I-15 north to SR-89 near Brigham City. It's about an hour and a half from the Salt Lake Valley.
