As you all probably know, you can spend your entire life in Texas and not have visited all of its cute little towns that have so much to offer, but often get overlooked. Sometimes you just need to get away from the fast-paced city life and go on a road trip to find some seriously delicious restaurants that are tucked away in some of the smaller towns throughout the state. Lucky for you, we've found 10 towns in Texas well-deserving of visitors if only for the fact that they have some of the most delicious meals you'll ever eat in the Lone Star State! 1) McQueeney
This town in Guadalupe County has a population of 2,527 and offers some incredibly tasty restaurants to get your grub on! Some of the more notable choices for dining include Blake's Cafe and Old River City Cafe.
2) Decatur
Located 25 miles northwest of Fort Worth, the relatively small town of Decatur packs a serious punch when it comes to great restaurants. Check out Whistle Stop Cafe and Sweetie Pie's Ribeyes if you're in the area.
3) Comfort
With a population of only 2,358, you'll find the food in Comfort lives up to the town's name pretty perfectly. Stop by
Comfort Pizza or High's Cafe & Store for some mouthwatering comfort food and delicious eats.
4) Jefferson
This historic East Texas town offers more than just haunted hotels and a charming general store; the food here makes your visit even more worth it. Well-reviewed restaurants include Joseph's Riverport Barbecue, Austin Street Bistro, and Kitt's Kornbread Sandwich and Pie Bar. No matter where you, you'll be blown away by the tasty meals and southern hospitality.
5) Junction
This small town of just over 2,500 people brings a lot to the table when it comes to good food (pun intended). Lum's BBQ, Plumley's Country Store and Isaack's are some eateries you definitely won't want to pass up.
6) Pleasanton
In South Central Texas, you'll find "The City of Live Oaks and Friendly Folks." You'll also stumble across some delectable restaurants, including Cafe Chris and Plaza Tapatio.
7) Shamrock
You'll probably have to drive quite a ways to get here, but the amazing food awaiting you will make it totally worth it. On the eastern edge of the Panhandle, you'll find restaurants such as Big Vern's Steakhouse. This down-home eatery is known for their crispy fried chicken and mouthwatering beer bread. Bring your whole family and chow down!
8) West
The adorable Czech town of West, Texas, which is actually located in North Central Texas, has plenty of hidden gems when it comes to restaurants, namely Slovacek's and Czech-American Restaurant. If you're craving some authentic Czech cuisine, head to the small town of West.
9) Terlingua
You wouldn't expect a ghost town to have good food, much less any place to get it. However, you can find a few delicious restaurants here, mostly for the tourists stopping by. Check out Starlight Theatre Restaurant & Saloon, High Sierra Bar & Grill, and TIVO's Mexican Food if you want to chow down on food that your taste buds will not soon forget.
10) Van
Located in Northeast Texas, this small town has just over 2,600 people. It also boasts some pretty tasty restaurants, such as The Farmhouse Restaurant and Soulman's Bar-B-Que.
