Considering our state's rich history, lots of towns throughout Texas have historic buildings that add to their character and aesthetic. One place in particular, however, is especially beautiful: Fredericksburg.

Architectural Digest awarded the city the prestigious title of "Prettiest Town in Texas," because of its quaint Main Street, plethora of wineries, and breathtaking natural areas like Enchanted Rock. If you've never been, now's the perfect time to visit - cooler temperatures around the corner means getting outside and exploring all day long!

Many small towns across the state have charming town squares, but Fredericksburg's is especially pleasing to the eye.

A rich German heritage combined with the traditional architecture we see on Main Streets throughout Texas creates a unique aesthetic that draws visitors from all over. Between the shops, art galleries, and restaurants, this historic district is a tourist's dream come true.

Wine is arguably the town's most integral industry, and it definitely makes for some breathtaking scenery.

Dozens of vineyards are scattered around the area - so many that Fredericksburg Wine Tours was created to allow people to experience as many as possible.

There's no feeling quite like staring off into the countryside, glass of vino in hand, and not a care in the world.

Rows upon rows of grapevines seem to stretch infinitely into the distance, and it's so peacefully quiet that you could practically hear a pin drop. This is the definition of true bliss.

A plethora of historic buildings add to Fredericksburg's appeal.

This is the pioneer museum, and its three sprawling acres allow visitors to learn about the city's German heritage. The exhibits are essentially exact replicas of the structures that once existed here, and exploring the grounds is like taking a time machine back hundreds of years.

Few places are as architecturally beautiful as Catholic churches, and St. Mary's is no exception.

Intricate carvings both on the interior and exterior create designs that are absolutely captivating to behold. Visitors are welcome every Sunday after 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. masses!

The nature in Fredericksburg is pretty spectacular, as well. The town is home to Wildseed Farms, the largest family-owned farm of its kind in the entire country.

Over 450,000 guests stop by annually to marvel at the beautiful blooms. Enjoy a glass of wine while walking along the trails, take photos, and bring home some seeds of your very own. The flowers will be out through October, so time hasn't run out just yet!

Would it really be an article about Fredericksburg without mentioning this iconic pink blob at least once?

We think not. With its fascinating Native American history, rock art on the walls, and mystical urban legends, Enchanted Rock is an obligatory natural area to visit in Texas. Watching the sunset from high atop its peak is a truly breathtaking scene.

We definitely don't disagree with this gem being named the happiest town in the state.

It has all the ingredients to earn the title: beautiful, historic buildings, stunning vistas, and a town square that's charming as can be.
