Christmastime is usually associated with coziness and cheer, so what better way to experience that than visiting some of Texas' most charming Main Streets? Our big cities and small towns alike go all out when it comes to decorating for Christmas, and exploring these 10 town squares will evoke a warm and fuzzy feeling that only happens this time of year.

1. Grapevine

They don't call it the "Christmas Capital of Texas" for nothing. Almost every building in the town square is decked out from roof to ground in lights. Strolling down Main Street and taking in the sights is a surefire way to get in the Christmas spirit.

2. Nacogdoches

The oldest town in Texas has had plenty of time to perfect the art of decorating for Christmas. Downtown Nacogdoches is already charming enough, but around the holidays it has an even more warm and cozy feeling about it.

3. Marshall

Marshall doesn't get enough recognition for its holiday festivities. Its town square, including the courthouse, goes ablaze with lights every night. You can even take a horse-drawn carriage ride around the illuminated streets.

4. Johnson City

Much like Marshall but more widely known, Johnson City's courthouse is easily the most decorated courthouse in Texas. Every December, it comes alive with over 100,000 lights - that's not even counting the ones inside. The trees surrounding the building are wrapped in so many lights they might as well be made of solid gold, and the rest of downtown is equally amazing.

5. Denton

Denton is absolutely stunning during Christmastime. Thousands of people gather in the town square each night to see the old buildings adorned with elegant lights. The whole scene definitely evokes that undeniable feeling that we associate with this time of year.

6. Garland

This huge Christmas tree is definitely the highlight of Garland's downtown setup. It's decked out in multicolored lights from head to toe, and the many other decorations surrounding it complement it even further.

7. Dallas

Dallas's downtown is about as close as it gets to that of New York at Christmastime. The lights strung up and down the high-rises and the ginormous tree will make you feel insurmountable joy in your heart.

8. Austin

Austin's "Main Street," otherwise known as Congress Ave, is even more lively than usual during the holidays (if that's possible). Lights are strung up across the street, and the Christmas tree in front of the capitol is a picturesque sight.

9. San Antonio

Everyone talks about the River Walk at Christmastime, but the streets of San Antonio's historic downtown shouldn't be ignored either. Many of the towering buildings are even lit up, and all the vibrant lights are absolutely magical.

10. Fredericksburg

Fredericksburg's town square is adorable this time of year, and it's unique from other towns in Texas because it brings German customs into the decorations. For example, the structure on the left is an authentic German Christmas tree. You'll get a feel for the culture embedded in the roots of the town while still enjoying your tried-and-true American traditions.
