There's something about a tiny town that just makes us smile. Maybe it's the southern hospitality that seeps from every handshake and hello, perhaps the delicious diners that are sure to be tucked back on main street. We have 11 teeny tiny towns in Tennessee that truly make the south a beautiful place to live - good people call these places home, and they're the kind of people you want to meet.
11. Cumberland Gap
Can we just say that Colwyn Avenue is the stuff of our DREAMS?! This is where you could have a white picket fence and a dog and barefoot babies - just sayin'. The 489 people in Cumberland Gap have that privilege, and we're a bit jealous...
10. Copperhill
Located in Polk County, Tennessee, little Copperhill is home to 354 of the best people you'll ever know. It is also one of the states greatest representations of reforestation, as the once highly worked area has since been given new life, and Copperhill is the better for it.
9. Cedar Hill
The Main Street in Cedar Hill crosses the railroad tracks, giving the town of less than 300 a nostalgic, Hollywood-esque air. This is the small town south at it's finest.
8. Allardt
There's a pumpkin-shaped water tower in Allardt, and it gives the town a smile and a wink from the get-go. With only 630 people, we wanted to make sure this cute little place didn't miss it's moment in the sun.
7. Etowah
Etowah is one of the bigger towns on our list, hailing a little over 3,000 residents and the cutest downtown you've ever seen. It's known as the, "Gateway to the Cherokee National Forest."
6. Monteagle
Monteagle is known for its beautiful views and plethora of hiking trails, but to 1,175 Tennesseans this is simply their home. What a stunning place to be yours...
5. Auburntown
Did you know that only 269 people live in Auburntown, Tennessee? The town name hails from Auburn, New York and was changed from its original moniker, "Poplar Stand."
4. Alexandria
Little Alexandria was founded by Dr. Daniel Alexander in 1820, and boasts a Post Office that's been operational since 1838. A middle Tennessee darling, it's home to around 814 people.
3. Butler
Butler, Tennessee is an unincorporated community that is made up of cabin dwellers and vacationers. Visit this dreamy little spot as you head through to visit Watauga Lake!
2. Erwin
Erwin is a bit bigger, but by big we mean there are roughly 6,000 people in the town and that's still small enough to host a handful of churches and link up the whole lot of 'em. It's located in the Johnson City Metro System, so you don't have to go far to head into the, "big" city, shall we say.
1. Tellico Plains
Tellico Plains is located in the eastern side of the state and has views for DAYS. There were 880 residents at the time of the 2010 census, which means the beauty of the Cherohala Skyway and popular Bald Falls is well preserved.
