Tennessee is a beautiful state rife with natural beauty, but autumn seems to take it up a notch. Whether you live in the mountains or make your home on a plot of hilly land, Tennessee sure is beautiful when it comes to October and November. Our fall foliage has started to (finally!) explode with color, and this tiny town in East Tennessee sure knows how to show out. If you haven't been before, you're in for a real treat.
Tellico Plains has earned the title of a "vintage mountain town," and old school and beautiful mountainous space that occupies the east side of the state. Known for its close vicinity to multiple outdoor experiences, Tellico Plains is a popular place to camp and vacation.
It's a great home base whether you're looking to explore the Great Smoky Mountains, indulge in a car ride around the Cherohala Skyway or even fall in love with the jaw-dropping foliage of the Cherokee National Forest.
Life here is sweet and simple, it revolves around a tight-knit community and a beautiful, natural place to live. Is there anything better than slowing down and enjoying the basics of life?
The fall colors in the area are absolutely incredible, by the way. This is the kind of place where your eyes pop, unaccustomed to such intense bouts of beauty. Funnily enough? Tellico Plains is also considered an "official retirement destination" by the state of Tennessee.
The city itself was incorporated in the summer of 1911 but has been known by quite a few different names. Once considered Talico, Teliquo and Great Tellico, the area was inhabited by Native Americans long before colonists began to move west. There are even remnants of tribal burial and ceremonial sites in the area.
When settlers did begin a secondary human discovery of the area, it was mainly folks from Scotland and Ireland that made their home in the area. Industrial developments began in the 1820's and continued through the 20th century.
Have you ever been to Tellico Plains? Would you ever visit, or plan a campout in the area? If their fall foliage doesn't convince you, we don't know what will! We'd like to move in permanently...
