Do you keep searching for waterfalls in Nashville to explore but without much luck finding any? Well, that's because we don't really have any waterfalls unless you count those fountains downtown or torrential downpours that hit us every once in a while. Thankfully, though, there are quite a few that surround our pretty little Music City, and we put them together into an epic weekend trip. Complete with food stops, let's take a long weekend in the woods enjoying some of the waterfalls near Nashville!
Take a look at our Google Maps interactive map for directions! If you need to adjust the route at all, you can do that, too.
First off? Biscuit Love in The Gulch!
A hefty breakfast at Biscuit Love will get you on the right track to trek through our beautiful waterfall country. Plus, they have the ever iconic, "bonut" - the biscuit donut. Who'dve thought?!
You're off to Cummins Falls...
The 75-foot Cummins Falls is one of the largest natural draws for Nashvillians during the summertime. It was named one of the ten best swimming holes in America by Travel & Leisure Magazine.
It is accessible by a one mile trail, so there's a bit of a hike to get down to these falls near Nashville. But once you do? Your camera will be working overtime to capture its magnificent beauty.
Can you say, "World Foods International Grocery and Delicatessen" in one breath?
Because it's what's for lunch! This international market is like a piece of New York City in Tennessee, with an extensive menu that airs on the carb-y side of things.
Just look at that gyro - it's all sorts of delicious, and follows up our hike to the falls quite well.
Ready for a hike to Burgess Falls?
Burgess Falls is a combination of four different waterfalls, all that fall over 250-feet into the gorge below. Pretty insane, wouldn't you say? The waterfall is also about 1.5 miles round trip to see all four falls along your hike.
It's a pretty view no matter which way you turn, folks.
End the day with Mauricio's.
Locals rave about Mauricios , a Cookeville treasure, chock full of pastas from the Italian homeland. It's located at 232 Peachtree Avenue, and the delicious Italian cuisine (we recommend a big helping of their garlic bread!) ends your crazy day on a high note.
Virgin Falls to start the next day
Virgin Falls is a unique waterfall, as it flows out of one cave and into another. It's harder to get to, though - eight miles round trip will leave you a bit sore.
After that massive hike, you're probably starving! It's a good thing the Starling Cafe is open for business.
Editor's Note: The Starling Cafe has permanently closed.
The Starling Cafe has an adjoining antique shop and is open from 10:30am to 2:30 pm. It's great for a delicious sandwich accented by their sweet small town vibe. Plus, it's easy on the wallet!
A hike to Foster Falls is great for after lunch!
Foster Falls is best known as a rock climbing destination, but the base of the falls is only accessible if you cross the river by suspension bridge. Are you brave enough? The hike is easy, though, so it's just what that doctor ordered for your full bellies.
Fall Creek Falls just may be the most popular waterfall in the Tennessee.
Actually, it is. Fall Creek Falls is located in the most visited state park, and also the largest. The falls are 256-feet high, which makes it a record-breaking waterfall near Nashville, one of the highest waterfalls in the eastern United States.
Last stop before Nashville!
Mountain Goat Market is located in Monteagle, Tennessee, and the restaurant-grocery store hybrid is great for snacks for your drive back to Music City. The mix of carbs, protein and healthy fats will have you refueled in no time - and planning another weekend surrounded by beauty.
Pretty fun, hey? Now you can stop the endless googling of "Nashville waterfalls" and focus on the options for enjoying the beautiful waterfalls near Nashville! If you're in search of another exciting adventure, you can always explore this secluded Tennessee restaurant surrounded by natural beauty- it's gorgeous!
