If you hail from the Mount Rushmore State, you already know that we like to take it slow and enjoy the little things, which is not a bad way to live! That being said, we were surprised to hear that things are starting to move a little quicker in our neck of the woods, as this South Dakota town was just named one of the fastest-growing places in the Midwest:
It's official: Rapid City, South Dakota, is the fastest-growing metro area in the Midwest, beating out the likes of Phoenix, Charlotte, and Fort Collins.
According to a recent article from KELOLAND News, the population of Rapid City from 2020 to 2021 grew a whopping 1.9%, nearly three times more than the national average!
In addition to people moving into Rapid City, many companies are also relocating their headquarters to the "Gateway of the Black Hills," with KELO reporting that The National Loan Acquisitions Co. recently moved in from Portland, Oregon.
Founded in 1876, Rapid City was one of the forefront communities during the Black Hills Gold Rush, but unlike other towns of its time, RC continued to thrive even after the mines ran dry, thanks to a substantial push in tourism.
If you are thinking of moving to - or even just visiting! - Rapid City, you will never run out of things to see or do, thanks to its many outdoor recreational opportunities, landmarks, shopping, restaurants, and more.
