Much like Hallmark Christmas movies, Norman Rockwell’s sentimental paintings captured the hearts of Americans in a way that perhaps no other artist has before or since. His style was referred to as "Rockwellesque," characterized by his idealistic, quaint, or sentimental portrayals of American life. And we have a Rockwellesque, beautiful Norman Rockwell Christmas town in South Carolina that is reminiscent of the late artist’s famous work.
Bluffton describes itself as “a Town that appreciates the past, focuses on today, and is planning together for a greater future.” Old Town Bluffton Inn with the United States and South Carolina flags and palms lit up for Christmas certainly reflects this sentiment.
It would be a lovely place to stay if you’re here for an overnight visit.
The town holds a tree-lighting ceremony as part of the season’s festivities. Such a beauty!
Children sing carols for everyone to enjoy. It’s always nice to hear those familiar tunes again each year, especially with sweet young voices singing them.
Santa and Mrs. Claus make rounds during the event on a golf cart. He does need to conserve some energy for the big night coming up, after all!
At the town’s parade, he gets to ride in the fire engine.
Bluffton is such a quaint town any time of year, but really special during the holiday season.
Santa is awfully busy with Bluffton children’s wish lists!
Some places for great shopping in Bluffton include The Store, which has been around since 1978 …
… and the Bluffton General Store, where you can find fun Christmas decor and gift ideas.
What an adorable little guy.
This moment from a Boys and Girls Club event brings to mind the iconic masterpiece by Norman Rockwell, "The Runaway."
