3. Take a road trip to see the fall colors.

4. Attend Oktoberfest in Walhalla.

Get your Bavarian culture fix at this annual Oktoberfest in the Upstate. Walhalla's annual festival celebrating Bavarian culture is nearly 40 years old. It's always jam-packed with German beer, music and food. The dates this year are October 20-22, 2017.

5. Get your groove on at the South Carolina State Fair.

This giant 12-day extravaganza is more than just amusement rides and fair food. There are local competitions in just about everything from baking to raising the best and prettiest farm animals. Plus the entertainment lineup this year is unprecedented: ZZ Top, Chris Young, TobyMac, Keith Sweat, Brothers Osbourne and Sabrina Carpenter — and THAT'S just the Main Stage! 7. Take a family-friendly hayride down Monster Alley at Boone Hall Plantation.

We say that only because most people know Boone Hall Plantation has the scariest haunted hayride on the face of the Earth. But most don't realize you can take a daytime hayride that's perfect for the little ones. Plus Boone Hall has other fun fall activities for the kids like a corn maze, a pumpkin patch and more! 8. Get lost in not one, but TWO corn mazes at McLeod Farms.

Find your way through South Carolina's largest corn maze(s). Fun for the whole family, this year's maze celebrates South Carolina's national sports victories in 2016. McLeod is open seven days a week and the mazes will be available into November. Find it at 29247 Hwy. 151, McBee, SC.

9. Head to Yemassee to pick up the most lip-smacking, delicious pecan pie you'll ever taste.

Most people know the Carolina Cider Company for the many varieties of ciders they sell from their locations along Hwy 17 South in Yemassee. But they have so many other goodies to take home, including fresh pies. Get yours at 81 Charleston Hwy. Yemassee, SC. They're open seven days a week.

10. Hike to the top of Table Rock.

Getting to the top is an accomplishment you'll never forget and a splendid way to usher in the fall season. The hike to the top is 3.6 miles, and is considered a moderate trail. The trail head is located inside Table Rock State Park at 158 E Ellison Ln., Pickens, SC 29671.

11. Sink your teeth into the annual Beaufort Shrimp Festival.

The first weekend in October promises to deliver plenty of mouthwatering seafood at the annual Beaufort Shrimp Festival held on the waterfront in downtown Beaufort. Enjoy live music, vendors and more seafood than you can possibly imagine. The fun starts at 6:00 p.m on Friday. The event spans October 6th and 7th, 2017 in historic downtown Beaufort.
